Senior Development Associate

Based out of Long Island City, NY

That’s why we’re working to build an organization of food manufacturing workers in New York City with the power to transform our society. We’re building a dynamic and passionate team here, and we’d like you to join us as a full time Senior Development Associate.

As the Senior Development Associate, you will collaborate with workers to build a worker-led and operated union with the Industrial Workers of the World. As a valued member of our team at Brandworkers, you will work side-by side with worker leaders, organizers, campaigners, fundraisers, community allies, and the executive director to support our vision for worker power across the five boroughs of New York City.

What you’ll do:
Fundraising Management & Operations (45%)

  • Support Brandworkers members organizing in their shops by helping develop, strategize, lead and execute the organization’s fundraising campaigns and activities.
  • Create strategic plans to achieve Brandworkers’ fundraising goals in coordination with the Executive Director and staff.
  • Use Brandworkers project management systems to coordinate fundraising projects with clear, organized tasks and deadlines.
  • Use Brandworkers’ database systems to track and report progress toward goals. Drive accountability toward fundraising goals.
  • Coordinate with the team to develop and deliver grant proposals and reports aligned with Brandworkers’ goals.
  • Plan and execute individual fundraising initiatives and events.
  • Manage consultant relationships to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Ensure all fundraising activities are executed on time and within budget.

Community Engagement & Resource Mobilization (40%)

  • As one of the organization’s principal ambassadors, build trusting and mutually supportive relationships between the membership, staff, major organizational funding allies, and prospective donors.
  • Create and execute a stewardship plan that helps meet Brandworkers’ organizational goals.
  • Track progress toward goals to facilitate excellent community engagement and relationship building.
  • Ensure timely execution of Brandworkers’ digital and print communications.
  • Use Brandworkers’ systems and platforms to send out and track results of fundraising and ally mobilization communications.
  • Recruit and organize volunteers to support fundraising through phonebanks, textbanks, and other outreach.

Organizational Leadership (15%)

  • Train & coach members, staff, board and allies to be ambassadors for the organization.
  • Work with Campaign Coordinator, Executive Director, and consultants to align fundraising strategy and Brandworkers’ organizational goals.

Salary and Hiring Process

We’d also love to talk to you if you have a track record of raising money. This job has a starting salary ranging from $58,000 – $64,000. Brandworkers provides fully-paid health and dental benefits, as well as participation in our retirement program. We also offer generous vacation and professional development policies, a pre-tax commuter and health savings benefit, cell phone reimbursement, and a sabbatical policy.
