Part-Time Office Manager
(24 hours/week)

Based in the Upper East Side, New York City, NY

 

The New York Professional Nurses Union represents 1,500 Registered Nurses in NYC.

The Job:
The Office Manager reports to the Executive Director and is one of five staff members in the office.

Duties include bookkeeping, payroll & benefits administration, supporting the Executive Director’s and Treasurer’s directives to manage financial accounts, office management, some occasional event planning and/or arrangements coordination (membership meetings, solidarity-building events, etc.).

You are detailed-oriented, enjoy accounting, and are the kind of person who gets satisfaction reorganizing a closet. This job requires critical thinking, logistical problem-solving, and making the arrangements for anticipated needs.

Added plus if you believe the labor movement built and supports the middle class and feel honored supporting nurses working on the frontlines.

The job requires bookkeeping, recordkeeping, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, compiling and analyzing data, and meticulous follow-through.

The position does not require evening or weekend work. Twenty-four hour/week schedule is flexible to the needs of the person in the role. Work is largely onsite, but some remote work possible.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years’ bookkeeping experience. Familiarity with QuickBooks preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Familiarity with web-based office suite: Google docs, forms, spreadsheets, presentations
  • Experience keeping e-filing system
  • Experience supporting an office

Specific Duties:

  • Create quarterly financial reports using QuickBooks
  • Administer payroll and benefits
  • Manage financial accounts
  • Create budgetary reports as needed
  • Answer and direct incoming calls to staff
  • Liaison to vendors
  • Occasional event planning: arrange food for meetings, support logistics for one or more membership meetings/year, support RFP process and event planning/implementation for annual membership events
  • Support archive management

Compensation: Annual full-time salary range of $60,000 – $75,000 (pro-rated to part-time hours) commensurate with experience and an excellent benefits package including health insurance with no monthly contributions.
