Grievance and Contract Specialist

SEIU Healthcare Wisconsin is seeking a full-time Grievance and Contract Specialist to work with our healthcare members throughout Wisconsin. This position is primarily responsible for grievance and contract enforcement in represented facilities.

Position Summary:
The incumbent of this position works with the leadership of the Union. The incumbent acts as a consultant to the Bargaining Unit leadership assisting them with contract enforcement and administration. The incumbent will consult with co-workers assisting them with contract negotiations. The incumbent looks for ways to build an effective organizational structure for the Union both at the Local and Bargaining Unit level.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate contract enforcement through grievance arbitration for assigned Bargaining Unit(s).
  2. Train, support, lead and evaluate a member-centered contract enforcement team for the Local.
  3. Assist and support Staff Representative / Organizers in contract negotiations.
  4. Participate in new organizing efforts of health care workers to strategically augment current collective bargaining agreements (as time permits).
  5. Participate in political action activities and, as necessary, lobbying.
  6. Serve as staff support on assigned Local committees.
  7. Possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and an automobile for business use.

  1. Knowledge and/or experience in the organizing model of Grievances and Contract Enforcement
  2. Writing and Interpreting Contract Language

  7. Labor Union Experience / Connections

No experience is necessary. We will train the right candidate.

Salary and benefits are set by the staff collective bargaining agreement with a starting salary of $44,880/annual and benefits including health, dental, vision insurance, pension plan, paid time off, and paid holidays.

Work Location: Madison, WI with travel required. *During the COVID pandemic, travel was eliminated. Travel has resumed, but in a limited capacity. Staff also have the option to work remotely.
