Purpose of This Position:
The Senior Researcher provides skilled research support to SEIU 503’s organizing, bargaining, and policy campaigns. The person in this position will lead critical projects under time pressure and use experience and creativity to solve problems big and small.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collect, clean, and organize data from a variety of public and subscription data sources
  • Analyze and summarize data, and create charts and graphs
  • Develop presentations of research findings
  • Cost collective bargaining agreements and contracts for union members
  • Read, understand, and summarize laws, administrative rules, and proposed regulations
  • Lead financial analysis of public budgets and private companies
  • Develop and administer surveys
  • Keep good documentation

Duties That Must Be Performed to Accomplish the Purpose of the Position:

  • In-depth qualitative and quantitative analysis of contracts and public policy
  • Programming spreadsheets
  • Preparation of reports, memorandums, and presentations
  • Collaborating with people from different programs and departments to deliver needed research products
  • Political action: door-to-door canvassing, phone banks, issue campaigns, candidate campaigns, informing the membership on the issues and candidates, targeting candidates, targeting precincts for candidate races, voter registration, questionnaires and surveys on candidates and issues; get-out-the-vote drives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least three years of experience with quantitative and qualitative research relevant to the labor movement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of personalities and organizations and under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities without close supervision.
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in science, public policy, mathematics, economics, business, or a related field, or comparable experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to empowering workers through the labor movement.
  • Experience working for social justice as an organizer or activist.
  • Ability and stamina to work irregular and long hours and to attend weekend and evening activities.

Pay and Benefits

Compensation range is based on experience $63,132-$85,908 annually.
