JOB SUMMARY:
The Data Management Systems Specialist will help manage and coordinate the multiple data systems used through the Oregon Education Association, including but not limited to: NEA 360 (a Salesforce system); IMS; and Voter Activation Network (VAN). The person in this position will approach the work with an equity lens and help integrate higher level data operations throughout all levels of the organization including supporting staff and member trainings, building of data use protocols, and development of systems that are accessible to leaders throughout the organization. This position will help coordinate with over 200 individual School Districts and Community College members throughout Oregon to ensure smooth and timely processes information. This position is responsible for monitoring and validating member data systems to ensure their security, protection, and proper arrangement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support and advance the OEA mission, vision, and values.

  • Create and enforce policies for effective data management.
  • Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data.
  • Devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis, with attention to all technical aspects.
  • Establish rules and procedures for data sharing.
  • Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and organizational standards.
  • Assist with reports and data extraction when needed.
  • Monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to identify opportunities for enhancement; this may include researching new technologies or upgrades.
  • In coordination with the Director of IT, ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses.
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems and with the Director of IT coordinate maintenance or modifications, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Executive Director or their designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant field; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years’ proven experience as a data manager.
  • Familiarity with modern database and information technologies.
  • Successful previous experience facilitating conversations among diverse groups.
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Experience in training a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is based at the OEA Headquarters office in Portland, Oregon.

Travel may be necessary for work-related purposes. A successful candidate will have access to reliable transportation.
