Fast Food Campaign

We currently offer an opportunity for an experienced Administrative Assistant to join the Fast Food Campaign team and help build on our record of success in winning raises and union recognition for low-wage workers.

The Administrative Assistant reports jointly to the Director and the Organizing Coordinator for the Fast Food campaign. The Assistant is responsible for maintaining campaign operations and systems, and for the administrative interface with Accounting, Human Resources and Information Technology. The Assistant helps the staff track and measure campaign results. The Assistant maintains the campaign database and manages the Fast Food budget.

Responsibilities include:

  • General administrative support for Fast food organizing includes: opening and distributing mail, processing invoices, mass mailings, creating labels and badges for meetings and conferences, maintaining and ordering office supplies, maintaining and organizing shared spaces and office equipment.
  • Track expenses against the budget, including initiating purchasing for general operations and for events and actions
  • Scheduling meetings , and maintaining the department calendar
  • Work with Information Tech staff to troubleshoot problems with equipment or database
  • Manage meeting spaces to ensure compliance with COVID guidelines, including space and logistics for group meetings
  • Responsible for workflows in the Human Resources management system, including temporary hires and extensions and requests for equipment.
  • Provide logistical and staff support for rallies, meetings, trainings, phone banking operations, events and conferences as needed. Responsibilities include booking space, hotels, negotiating with caterers, bus companies and other vendors
  • Coordinate with office services and facilities management for any facility-related issues, including security, climate control, cleaning needs, work space, building access, etc.
  • Additional duties as assigned to support the Union’s program and goals

Direct Campaign Support

  • Maintain the campaign database:
    • collect, enter and distribute campaign data; meet with Organizers to ensure worker info is accurate and up-to-date
    • design, print and distribute reports as needed
    • extract data and compile ad hoc reports as requested
  • Coordinate the on-boarding of temporary hires, monitor a timetable to keep Fast Food staff on track; check incoming HR hiring documents for completion; enter hires into the HR system
  • Coordinate between Payroll and Fast Food staff to troubleshoot paycheck issues, if any
  • Coordinate all logistics including materials for worker meetings, actions and events; attend meetings and events to troubleshoot


  • Experience in administrative support work, preferably in labor, politics or advocacy organizations; interest in workers’ rights a plus;
  • Clear communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects and meet deadlines, while maintaining a level-headed demeanor;
  • Positive, proactive attitude and approach to the work; detail-oriented and conscientious;
  • Proficient computer, database, phone system and other technological skills covering a variety of office equipment;
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and flexibility in approach to project assignments and planning;
  • Strong preference for bi-lingual Spanish-English skills.
