JMA is currently seeking a part-time Temporary Legal Consultant to join our National Legal team who can work remotely until the end of 2021. The Temporary Legal Consultant will be part of a team working on federal regulatory procurement reform to allow states and municipalities to enact innovative programs in public contracts that raise workplace standards, respond to the climate crisis, and address needs unique to communities. The position includes opportunities to gain experience in national policy campaigns and working with diverse coalitions.


  • Legal research, analysis, and writing
  • Coordinate outreach regarding federal procurement reform
  • Create materials for and participate in meetings with government, union, advocacy, and community-based stakeholders
  • Help develop organizational strategy and plan to establish organizational expertise with relevant stakeholders including regulatory agency legal staff


  • J.D. Required, but bar membership not required
  • Administrative law experience preferred
  • Proficient in Westlaw, and the Google and Microsoft suites
  • Experience conducting research and at least an understanding of the federal government, administrative agencies in particular
  • Experience with regulatory reform campaigns a plus
  • Experience working in the labor movement or at a social justice nonprofit preferred

Terms of Employment:
Position can be as consultant or as temporary employee. Requires at least 20 hours a week commitment. Compensation is $30-35/hour depending on experience.
