Certified Public Accountant

The United Steelworkers is filling an Accounting and Finance Department position in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Job duties include senior level organization responsibilities for the primary organization, as well as multiple affiliated not-for-profit entities, including but not limited to the following:

  • Understanding or aptitude to develop working knowledge of various Oracle responsibilities and modules; as it is the framework for recording all of the United Steelworkers’ financial activity.
  • Preparation of monthly financial reporting packages; as well as supporting schedules/analyses for the primary organization, as well as multiple affiliated not-for-profit organizations.
  • Preparation of supporting schedules relevant to audits, LM2, Form 5500’s and Form 990’s.
  • Communication with Department staff to provide support on various accounting issues.
  • Propose/create general ledger recurring and adjusting journal entries on a monthly basis.
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, as well as review and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts (on a monthly basis).

Position Requirements:

  • BSBA in Accounting and a current CPA license preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience; Non-profit accounting preferred
  • Experience with Oracle preferred
  • Can handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize time sensitive responsibilities

Salary range:
$67,000 to $102,000
