(with travel throughout the five NYC boroughs)

EWF (Excluded Worker Fund) Project Coordinator
New York City, New York
Full-Time Temporary (Mid-July to December 15, 2021)

In April, community organizers and activists successfully pushed the state of New York to pass the Excluded Worker Fund (EWF). It’s an unprecedented $2.1 billion fund which provides financial relief for New Yorkers who’ve suffered income loss and were left out of pandemic and unemployment relief funds.

At Brandworkers, we believe that marginalized immigrant workers are uniquely positioned to change their workplaces through solidarity, direct action, and worker-led unionism. That’s why we’re working to build an organization of food manufacturing workers in New York City with the power to transform society. Over the past month, Brandworkers’ worker leaders, community allies, organizers and campaigners have been gearing up to make sure that New York City food workers have the tools and the resources they need to successfully apply for the EWF. We’re looking for someone to support our community as we do this work, and we’d like for you to join us as our EWF Project Coordinator.

What you’ll do:

  • Stay up-to-date on the developments of the EWF as the fund goes live in August 2021.
  • Collaborate with worker leaders, allies, and staff to plan and coordinate outreach to food manufacturing workers across the five boroughs.
  • Coordinate with worker leaders, volunteers, and staff to ensure that NYC food workers have the tools, materials, and the resources necessary to successfully navigate the state’s application process.
  • Directly support food manufacturing workers as they navigate difficult challenges of proving eligibility and completing the fund’s application.
  • Support the development of a system which will record the project’s work and track some key metrics we’ve decided on as an organization.

Reach out to us if:

  • You are fluent in English and Spanish
  • You’re in New York City
  • You’re passionate about the labor movement, you’re determined and you are committed to improvement.
  • You’ve demonstrated that you’re a great listener, you welcome constructive feedback, and you have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of workplace organizing.
  • You’re open to being held accountable to the communities you work in/with and are committed to the principles of racial and gender justice.

We’re based out of Long Island City, but organizers regularly travel throughout the five boroughs. We anticipate that this position will have a large in-person component. We are open to a variety of experience levels for this full-time role which will be completed on December 15, 2021. The annualized salary for this job would range from $42,000 - $46,000. Brandworkers provides fully-paid health and dental benefits, as well as participation in our retirement program. We also offer generous vacation and professional development policies, a pre-tax commuter and health savings benefit, and cell phone reimbursement.

At Brandworkers, we’re growing our skills together to be the best at what we do. We’re dedicated to making our work sustainable and to making a real change in the U.S. labor movement.

Brandworkers encourages applications from people of color, women, immigrants, indigenous people, LGBTQ+ people, and other oppressed communities.
