The CtW Investment Group leads corporate governance initiatives that protect worker retirement fund beneficiaries' economic interests in the financial markets by creating an effective voice for corporate accountability.

Join a growing and diverse multi-disciplinary team that develops and executes accountability efforts to enhance environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) performance by ensuring independent and accountable directors, reasonable executive compensation, and sound environmental, human capital management, and other business policies. Examples of initiatives led by CtW Investment Group include calls for racial equity audits at JPMorgan and other large banks, and “vote no” campaigns at McDonald’s, Uber, and Activision Blizzard.

Founded in February 2006, the CtW Investment Group works with pension funds sponsored by unions affiliated with the Strategic Organizing Center (formerly Change to Win), a coalition of unions representing more than four million members, to enhance long-term shareholder returns through active ownership. Members of the SOC affiliates participate in Taft-Hartley plans with over $250 billion in assets.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct ESG research and analysis using online resources, company filings, and subscription-based databases;
  • Analyze data on industries, companies, individuals, federal and state policies;
  • Draft public statements, letters, and presentations;
  • Assist in developing the SOC Investment Group’s social media profile;
  • Work with pension fund trustees and staff, other institutional shareholders, and the broader ESG investment community;
  • Represent the CtW Investment Group in internal and external forums, including shareholder meetings, Congressional hearings, and conferences;
  • Light administrative work including scheduling meetings, preparing filings and mailings, and assisting with maintaining contact database.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the CtW Investment Group.


  • Excellent writing, political, communication and organizational skills;
  • BA or BS in economics, business, finance, labor relations, or related fields;
  • Work, volunteer, or internship experience in labor, financial, public interest or governmental organizations; advocacy to improve the environmental, social, or corporate governance performance of companies;
  • A strong commitment to social justice and corporate accountability;
  • Ability to think critically and analytically and use sound judgment;
  • Ability to effectively manage a workload with competing priorities and deadlines, work independently, and take initiative;
  • Good computers skills, including Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and Power BI a plus;
  • Interested in learning and developing new skills; and
  • Willingness to travel, and occasionally work long and irregular hours
