The LIUNA Mid-Atlantic Regional Organizing Coalition of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA!), the premier union in the building trades, is seeking a dedicated and creative Assistant Organizing Director to help our union organizing campaigns in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Job Title: Assistant Organizing Director

  • Develop effective strategies for organizing workers and increasing membership using both a top-down and bottom-up approaches;
  • Oversee, supervise, and manage a staff of 20-30 field organizers and researchers
  • Contribute to the development of communications plans to workers
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with allied community and labor organizations to increase outreach and effectiveness
  • Coordinate with various local unions through the Mid-Atlantic Region
  • Assist the Director of Organizing with all matters related to the management of the organizing program
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Prior organizing experience required
  • College degree preferred 
  • Spanish/English proficiency preferred
  • A car and a valid driver’s license are required.
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Willingness to conduct house visits and site visits.
  • Experience in the construction industry is desirable
