About the Organization
Colorado Jobs With Justice is a coalition of community, labor, student and faith groups that come together to build working class power and stand up for workers’ rights. We work in partnership with our member organizations in mobilizing direct actions for social and economic justice for all people, including the right to organize a union, rebuilding the social safety net, living wages, health care, and equal treatment for all. We organize and base our work on a model of solidarity and reciprocity.

Colorado Jobs With Justice is an equal opportunity employer. We seek a diverse pool of volunteers and applicants for all opportunities and responsibilities within the organization – in particular with respect to women, people of color, the LGBT community, immigrants, and people of all ages and abilities.

The Organizer takes the lead in developing and executing innovative campaigns. In this role, the organizer mobilizes and supports community members, local coalitions, national partners, and allies. This position is based in Denver, Colorado.

Base-Building & Mobilization:
JWJ puts people directly affected by issues into confrontation with decision-makers to win concrete changes in the lives of working people. The stronger and more engaged our base, the better we can do this. The Organizer will work to grow our base by activating the members of our union partners and engaging members of the community, faith institutions, campuses, and youth groups.

Examples of past and current Campaigns: The heart of Jobs With Justice is taking action as part of campaigns for social, racial and economic justice. The Organizer will support campaign development, mobilization, and evaluation. Examples Include campaigns such as (EPIC), Raising the minimum wage as well as other campaigns and support for workplace-based organizing and collective bargaining fights.

Steering and Mobilization Committee Support: JWJ operates through our leadership-driven Steering and Mobilization Committees. The Steering Committee meets monthly to coordinate on movement strategy and process Solidarity Requests. The Mobilization committee meets as needed to support the work of mobilizing our base. The Organizer will support the Steering and Mobilization Committees by providing committee coordination and communication, running meetings, working with delegates and members to develop agendas and materials, commitment accountability, and driving turnout through solidarity actions.

Fundraising, Communications and Data Management: The Organizer will help implement an annual fundraising plan, which is determined by our Board of Directors and under the direction of the Lead Organizer, by supporting all grassroots fundraising efforts and fundraising events, including organizational contributions, individual contributions, earned income strategies, and more.

Leadership Development: The Organizer will encourage, foster, and develop the abilities of JWJ members, particularly rank and file members and leaders from our campaigns to play leading roles in developing and building the organization. This will include participation in our three-day Leadership Development and Organizing Training.
