Administrative Assistant II

Split between Oakland and San Francisco, CA offices
(40 hours/week)

 

Office & Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) is a dynamic, progressive labor union for professional, technical and office clerical workers who recognize the value of having a voice at their work site and the need for social justice.  OPEIU 29 represents members in the greater San Francisco Bay area and throughout California, with its headquarters in Oakland, California and a satellite office in San Francisco. California.  OPEIU 29 is seeking an Administrative Assistant II to support our Oakland (3 days) and San Francisco Offices (2 days).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process All SF Contracts, generating and mailing to employers & members. 
  • Monitoring any contract changes. 
  • Generate Bulletins & Meeting Notices. 
  • Typing all correspondence for Representative Staff in SF & Oakland offices (i.e., correspondence, NLRB charges, proposals, tentative agreements, grievances, etc.). 
  • Data Entry. 
  • Maintain and update employer records; contract openers; wage and fringe openers.
  • Quarterly & annual contract COLA calculations.
  • Maintain Storage files.
  • Open all correspondence and distribute mail to appropriate individuals and properly save all incoming correspondence.
  • New member application processing, mailing new member packets, maintain membership data.
  • Special/Other projects assigned by President.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, to include Excel, word, power point, Outlook and Access.
  • Strong and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, organizational skills, both analytical problem solving, and the ability to work with confidential documents.
  • Typing proficiency at a level sufficient to complete required tasks accurately and in a timely manner, willingness and ability to learn new technical skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and achieve deadlines under pressure and proven ability to perform the duties of the position

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
This position is covered by CWA 9415 bargaining agreement, 40-hour workweek (in office), competitive compensation and benefits including, medical insurance, dental insurance, paid vacation and sick days, and a pension.  Starting hourly wage is $24.00.
