Membership Data Strategist
(Full Time)

The Affiliate Services Division is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Membership Data Strategist, who will be responsible for the development and continued operations of effective membership data management systems, including coordinating and leading the data-related work of staff responsible for member data systems implementation. The successful candidate will design and oversee data workflows, from collection and entry to reporting and analysis, as well as development of strategies for using data to identify, recruit, retain and engage members, and encourage their development as potential leaders.

The duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the lead member data strategist within the organization, coordinating and leading the data-related work of the Data Specialist and Regional Coordinators and collaborating with other relevant staff on data projects, as well as engaging local leaders and stakeholders in developing and implementing data strategies.
  • Develop, implement and manage membership systems, practices, controls and procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity, efficient organizational workflow, and effective data reporting and analysis.
  • Direct all phases of implementation of the NEA 360 database project. Serve as the MTA expert on the NEA 360 software.
  • Design training programs which enable all stakeholders to fully utilize available technology to best achieve membership data strategy recommendations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

To be successful in the role you will need:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in database administration
  • Experience leading a team to reach organizational objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate business processes in order to identify needs and areas for improvement for achieving organizational objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to develop standard operating procedures and write documentation needed to implement them
  • Experience implementing organization/company-wide CRM or similar systems
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience creating detailed reports of quantitative data and effectively presenting related information to an audience with varying levels of technical understanding
  • Experience conducting training programs
  • Ability to guide and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to assess changing organizational data needs and troubleshoot as issues arise
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications including Excel, as well as Word and Outlook
  • Salesforce experience preferred
  • Knowledge of/direct experience with union advocacy and/or grassroots organizing preferred
  • Passion for social, economic and racial justice and the mission of the MTA
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters/advanced college level classes preferred
