The Pioneer Valley Workers Center seeks a full-time Organizer to organize low-wage and immigrant food system workers in Western Massachusetts. The organizer will build the power of workers through leadership development, collective action, and campaign and legislative advocacy. In this position, the organizer will work closely with lead organizers and members to advance the PVWC mission. The ideal candidate will speak fluent Spanish and at least proficient English. They will have a passion for social justice.


  • Build and sustain relationships with low-wage workers, with a focus on workers in the food system.
  • Support workers’ leadership development, strengthening member capacity to lead campaigns and meetings
  • Facilitate worker meetings and peer-to-peer education.
  • Train immigrant leaders in Know Your Rights curriculum
  • Support the 24-hour hotline for immigrant and workers' rights issues


  • Excellent speaking skills in Spanish, and proficiency in written skills for both Spanish and English
  • Skilled at facilitating group meetings, or strong willingness to learn
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings, including being on call for PVWC hotline.
  • Commitment to building social justice through leadership development, community organizing and popular education.


  • 1-3 years of experience organizing, ideally among immigrants and/or low-wage workers and/or lived experience that gives unique insight into these communities.
  • Coalition-building experience among unions and/or other organizations, or strong willingness to learn.
  • Access to a car. This position requires continual travel throughout the valley (Greenfield, Northampton, Springfield.) (Some mileage reimbursements will be included.)

Location: Western Massachusetts/ Connecticut River Valley

Details: Full-time position, nights and weekends.

Exemption Status: Exempt

Compensation: $35-$40,000, DOE. This position is fully funded for one year, with plans to extend.

At the year mark, we hope to renew this position and offer the opportunity to be part of the PVWC collective.
