Organizational Overview
The Worker-driven Social Responsibility Network (WSRN) focuses on ending abuses against workers in corporate supply chains in the United States and globally. Network members are committed to a worker-driven social responsibility model that prioritizes enforcement of legally binding agreements and worker leadership in the design and implementation of social responsibility programs.

The WSRN is part of a global coalition of organizations, including trade unions and NGOs, that is working to achieve a living wage in the apparel industry. This position will work exclusively on that effort.

Position Overview and Responsibilities
The Communications and Outreach Associate will support the WSRN’s work as part of a global coalition to promote a new strategy for living wages in the apparel sector. This position will assist with the development and implementation of a communications strategy for the living wage effort. This includes helping to create public education materials and engaging with a variety of audiences through traditional and digital media. Furthermore, the Communications and Outreach Associate will engage in outreach to worker organizations, NGOs, and other advocates to build support for a global living wage in the garment industry. Additional responsibilities include arranging meeting logistics and tracking developments related to wages in global supply chains.

The WSRN is anchored by the National Economic and Social Rights Initiative (NESRI). All WSRN staff are employed by NESRI.

This is a half-time, temporary position with guaranteed funding through December 31, 2020. Extension of the position is possible, depending on grant renewal. The person in this position can work remotely or from NESRI’s New York office, with a preference for candidates based in Philadelphia, DC, or New York.

Qualities Sought

  • Knowledge of and experience in the field of workers’ rights;
  • 2-3 years of professional experience preferred;
  • Strong analytical and writing skills;
  • Experience working effectively with grassroots and partner organizations;
  • Experience successfully navigating complex partnerships, and ability to connect with a wide range of diverse constituencies;
  • An outstanding facility to effectively communicate with public audiences, especially through digital and media outlets;
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in fast-paced, high-energy environment;
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines;
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Salary: The full-time salary for this position would be $50,000 per year. This position includes a generous benefits package.
