This is a posting for Airports Division; Internal Organizer I, in the San Francisco Bay Area, California pursuant to the BSSU Contract.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is our country’s fastest growing labor union with more than 2 million members. We are on the cutting edge of bettering the lives of low-wage service workers and taking on the larger issues that impact their lives from healthcare to education to immigration. The United Service Workers West (USWW) is comprised of 40,000 property service workers from San Diego to Sacramento. Our union brings together janitors, security officers, residential, stadium, arena and airport workers. These workers are the heart of our union and through their activism the hope for a more progressive California.

SEIU USWW has an Internal Organizer position available immediately, based in Alameda, CA.


  • Organize members and worksite actions;
  • Participate in negotiations and contract campaigns;
  • Perform regular worksite visitations and conduct site meetings;
  • Be a direct liaison between members and the Members Action Center;
  • Effectively resolve worksite disputes and problems of membership;
  • Participate in worker/ steward trainings;
  • Lead mobilization and turn-out for actions and meetings;
  • Maintain accurate worksite (building and worker) information;
  • Communicate with company supervisors and managers;
  • Conduct effective house visits and one on one communication;
  • Plan own work and make weekly and monthly plans from larger goals
  • Conduct worker and committee meetings, including developing meeting agendas.


  • Commitment to social justice and sense of good judgment
  • Ability to effectively plan and implement work and manage time, as part of a team and individually
  • Ability to travel to other work sites in California, work long and irregular and extended hours
  • Experience and knowledge of computer programs is a plus (including word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheet and database software)
  • Experience in External Organizing campaigns
  • Spanish language fluency (strongly preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Driver’s license, current insurance, and reliable car
  • Ability to pass an FBI background check


  • Salary is competitive and negotiable (based on the Staff Union Contract)
