Central Region Coordinator
  Political & Legislative Action Department

Based in Washington, DC


The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), based in Washington DC, is looking for a Central Region Coordinator in its Political & Legislative Action Department.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicating day to day with Joint Council and Local Union Political Coordinators
  • Relaying needs and requests from Teamster affiliates to Department Director, Assistant Director, and appropriate departmental staff
  • Provide written weekly reports of Joint Council and Local Union political and legislative activities
  • Assisting Joint Councils and Local Unions in efforts to educate and mobilize members in the field
  • Conferring with Teamster lobbyists at the state level to identify labor-friendly political candidates and track legislative issues
  • Coordinating the dissemination of various issues to all states within the region
  • Developing and implementing electoral campaigns for Teamster-endorsed candidates
  • Developing coordinated processes to identify/create and distribute specific model legislation for issues that have been identified as a Teamster priority with the states
  • Assisting in developing state and regional DRIVE budgets

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor of Arts degree & 1-3 years of experience in campaign, government relations and/or legislative environments. Demonstrated understanding of state legislative processes and union/labor movement activities is also required.
