Vermont Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals (AFT) is hiring a smart, motivated Organizer who is willing to work hard for social justice at the workplace and across Vermont.

We organize to win better wages, respect, and improvements at work and in the statehouse.

This position’s initial assignment will be to organize new healthcare professionals in our union, along with working directly with our existing members.

We are looking for a team member who has:

  • Experience as an organizer (Experience as a union organizer and/or a union member/leader a plus)
  • Experience working in healthcare and/or higher education a plus
  • The ability to recruit, mentor and train new members and leaders
  • The ability to work independently, solve problems, manage time and priorities
  • The ability to work long and irregular hours
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and ability to support elected leaders
  • Strong listening, speaking and written communication skills
  • The ability to master our database and communication tools
  • A commitment to building worker power in Vermont for the long haul
  • An automobile and valid driver's license (required)

Compensation: Competitive salary dependent on experience. Benefits include full family medical insurance, 401K and generous paid time off benefits. This is a temporary position that is funded thru June 2020, with the potential for ongoing work.
