Development & Communications Coordinator

Based in San Francisco, CA


Organizational Description:
Founded in 1972, the Chinese Progressive Association (CPA) is a grassroots membership-based organization that empowers the Chinese community in San Francisco and promotes justice and equality for all people. CPA’s campaigns and programs improve the living and working conditions of working-class immigrants and give ordinary community members a stronger voice in the decision-making processes that affect them. Our core strategies are community education and organizing, leadership development and alliance building.

Position Overview:
The Development Coordinator supports the organization’s resource development and external communications work. This position reports to the Associate Director.

Responsibilities:
Development & Communications (65%)

  • Assist with the development of grassroots fundraising plans
  • Assist with evaluating fundraising efforts and addressing organizational issues to help support fundraising, including donor cultivation
  • Develop and maintain fundraising information management systems
  • Develop and maintain tracking of donations and donors
  • Develop and coordinate grassroots fundraising projects
  • Develop and coordinate special events and functions for audiences ranging from 15-20 to 300-600 guests.
  • Create key external communication documents including brochures, newsletters and information packets
  • Update and maintain CPA’s website and social media channels
  • Compile and showcase press hits in the media
  • Coordinate and facilitate grassroots fundraising trainings/development with staff, board and volunteers

Administrative Coordination (20%)

  • Assist Associate Director as needed on administrative projects (including research, creation of organizational materials, etc.)

Organizational Support (15%)

  • Support other CPA campaigns, programs and organization-wide activities as needed

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to social, economic and environmental justice, bottom-up social change and building social movements
  • Strong organizational and writing skills
  • Ability to manage and design organizational systems needed to track and manage files, deadlines, and relationships
  • Finds joy in gathering and sharing stories to build understanding and excitement of CPA's work and community members
  • Good computer skills including strong proficiency in database, desktop, publishing and website content management programs. Familiarity with Powerbase, Google Drive/Suite, Dropbox is a plus
  • Design and layout experience preferred
  • Previous related experience preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Cantonese and/or Mandarin preferred

Employment Terms:
Full-time, non-exempt

Salary and Benefits:
$40,000 - $48,000 per year with benefits.
