Salary Range: $51,000 to $56,000
Start Date: November 4, 2019

Position Overview
Jobs to Move America (JMA) is seeking a full-time Development Associate. This role will be integral in advancing JMA’s fundraising strategies and ensuring the long-term growth and sustainability of the organization. The Development Associate reports to the Development Director and will work closely with the Executive Director, and staff across the organization.

An ideal candidate has solid writing skills, highly organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and is passionate about economic, racial and social justice.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Assist in optimizing and maintaining accurate and up-to-date calendar and tracking systems for all grant-related and grassroots fundraising activities that will enable the entire Development team to perform with greater efficiency and accountability.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals, reports, fundraising appeals, website materials, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials as required
  • Conduct research on donors and foundation prospects and create custom profiles as requested.
  • Support with cultivation of relationships with foundation partners, donors, and donor prospects.
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive and Development teams including maintaining complex calendars, scheduling internal and external meetings, preparing reimbursements, reconciling monthly credit card statements, coordinating travel, and assisting with special projects as needed.
  • Communicating directly, and on behalf of the Development Director and Executive Director, with Board Members, Donors, Foundation Staff, and others, on matters related to JMA’s programs.
  • Assist with coordination of logistics for Board and Fundraising-related events.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Demonstrated interest, understanding, and commitment to JMA’s mission
  • Experience in nonprofit and/or social justice setting: grant writing and/or nonprofit fundraising experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage a workload with competing priorities and deadlines and produce quality work in a flexible and fast-paced environment.
  • A self-starter, problem solver, and team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and people.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe and G-Suite programs.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience planning and executing individual donor campaigns and/or fundraising events
  • Prior experience with calendar management
  • Experience working with board of directors
  • Familiar with SMARTIE goal setting and work planning.

Fine Print:
The role is an exempt, salaried position with a salary range from $51,000 to $56,000 depending upon experience. Salaries are based on an established range and are not negotiable. JMA offers full family health and dental benefits at no premium cost to the employee, Flexible Savings Account, 401k plan, generous time off, cellphone reimbursement, and work-related mileage reimbursement or transit pass reimbursement. Some out-of-town travel required. Occasional weekend and evening work is required.
