Accounts Receivable/Membership Clerk

Based in Quincy, MA

The Finance Division within the MTA is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accounts Receivable/Membership Clerk. Our ideal candidate will possess customer service experience as well as data experience. Our ideal candidate will also demonstrate the ability to be a team player and work independently, and is comfortable multitasking and managing competing priorities, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service to all MTA members.

The duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Provides information to members and local leaders.
  • Provides instruction to local leaders regarding membership processing.
  • Processes and maintains current membership files and records.
  • Handles inquiries and resolves issues presented by local treasurers and individual members.
  • Prepares routine correspondence and reports on own initiative or from rough draft.
  • Processes non-routine cancellations and related data.
  • Maintains accounts receivable records.
  • Compiles data for reports as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

To be successful in the role you will need:

  • 2- 5 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred.
  • Knowledge/experience in basic accounting.
  • Ability to foster and promote a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Previous experience using databases for entering information and running reports.
  • Working knowledge of computer financial systems, Windows applications and data entry systems.
  • Strong MS office skills; demonstrated ability to create and maintain multiple Excel spreadsheets.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy, and superior organization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work as team member in a fast-paced financial environment.
