Responsibilities
What You’ll Do

Under the direction of the Executive Director (and policies set by the Theatrical department in the Los Angeles headquarters), the Business Representative will monitor, enforce, protect members’ rights and sign producers in relation to all applicable SAG-AFTRA agreements in Theatrical (Low Budget only), Television and related collective bargaining agreements in the San Francisco - Northern California area. As a member of the Contracts team, you will be tasked with the following areas of responsibility:

  • Provide accurate contract information to producers, members and member’s representatives regarding Theatrical, Television and related agreements.
  • Files, researches and resolves contract disputes with production companies, producers, attorneys for productions signed under the (low budget) Theatrical and Television collective bargaining agreements. Sign companies/film productions to the Student, Short Film and Ultra Low Budget Agreements.
  • Conduct on-set visits to monitor compliance.
  • Handle local signatory and clearance processes on Student, Short and Ultra Low Budget pictures. Conduct training and outreach to film schools.
  • Performs payroll audits when required.
  • Coordinate activities and events of Conservatory committee.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience with administration and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ability to communicate persuasively and effectively with performers and production personnel.
  • Maintain good working relations with production counterparts.
  • Excellent organizational and listening skills.
  • Able to work independently; must have high level of initiative to handle work which is largely unsupervised.
  • Ability to work in a very high paced environment.
  • Able to prioritize, organize and coordinate multiple tasks under daily deadlines.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated interpretative and analytic ability.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to use PC applications and accurately type 35 WPM.
  • Superlative interpersonal skills: high degree of patience and tact. Must be able to cultivate respectful, strategic and collaborative relationships with people from diverse backgrounds both internally and externally.
  • Have an understanding and awareness of worker rights impacting SAG-AFTRA members.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable for a high level of performance and integrity.
  • Capable of taking direction from more than one supervisor.
  • Must be able to work in a challenging environment where constructive feedback from others is encouraged.
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at SAG-AFTRA’s sole discretion.
  • Must be available and willing to work extended hours (and/or overtime for applicable non- exempt positions) per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
  • Must be available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Labor Relations or related discipline and 5 to 7 years applicable experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
