Community Services Liaison

Working Partnerships is an important non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of working families and promoting economic justice in Minneapolis and the West Metro area. Working Partnerships coordinates their efforts with the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO.

The Community Services Liaison (CSL) at Working Partnerships carries out important work directly supporting union households experiencing financial hardship, promoting union member engagement and civic engagement. This work is also carried out in partnership with the Greater Twin Cities United Way (GTCUW). The partnership with GTCUW includes assisting with workplace fundraising campaigns and aligning organizational advocacy with GTCUW impact work. The CSL also plays a significant role in the administration of the non-profit, fundraising and event planning.

The ideal candidate for this position will be mission driven, detail oriented, creative and a self-starter. They will have had experience fundraising and be proficient in administrative tasks. They should be able to communicate effectively, both in public speaking and in drafting emails and professional documents. They should be comfortable working with diverse communities and in a rapid paced environment. The candidate should have experience working in the Labor and/or Non-profit community.

Candidate must be willing to work nights and weekends as needed at 40 hours per week. Position is in OPEIU Local 12 bargaining unit. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Dental and health insurance provided.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and service to union members seeking financial assistance and experiencing family crises by administering financial assistance, food assistance, financial advocacy and referrals.
  • Plan and execute United Way workplace fundraising campaigns with Executive Director and other labor partners. This also includes public speaking, regular reporting and relationship management.
  • Work with United Way partners to help carry out community impact work, volunteer projects and other advocacy priorities.
  • Speak publicly about the work of the organization to diverse audiences.
  • Organize annual golf tournament fundraiser for 150+ players including planning, event logistics and sponsorship solicitation.
  • Work to stabilize, diversify and increase funding through new and creative fundraising approaches.
  • Assist with coordinating Union Jobs Fairs and other major events.
  • Assist in creating and executing communication and marketing strategies to support the mission and work of the organization, including maintaining social media sites.
  • Maintain data management for client lists, donor databases and other lists.
  • Support the Working Partnerships Board by orienting new Board members, scheduling meetings, creating agendas, creating financial reports and keeping all records
  • Maintain all financial records, bookkeeping and hardship funds, and assist with human resource and general office management duties. This includes financial management of accounts; processing deposits, paying bills, monthly reconciliations, processing union dues, pension payments etc. Track hardship funds and fiscal agency accounts.
  • Assist affiliate unions with special projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently
  • Detail oriented
  • Proven success in managing multiple projects at once
  • Social media experience
  • Event planning experience
  • Bookkeeping or other administrative experience
  • Ability to work with racially and culturally diverse communities

Preferred Qualifications

  • QuickBooks experience
  • In-depth experience in one of these fields: public policy, non-profit administration, community organizing, civic engagement, workplace organizing or human services
  • Demonstrable experience managing a coalition setting with diverse stakeholders
