Employment Details:

  • 206-day contract. We will follow the school year calendar with the addition of three days in July and the third and Fourth weeks of August.
  • 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
  • $25/hour but negotiable depending on experience; plus $5,000 Retirement contribution
  • Medical insurance and 14 paid leave and holiday days

  • Works under the supervision of the IEA President

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Strong face to face, telephone, and email communication skills, and excellent attention to detail.
  2. Performs clerical and secretarial duties, including meeting notices, member announcements, mailings, and other communication initiatives as required.
  3. Maintains confidentiality of personnel and other sensitive information.
  4. Produces, coordinates and distributes handouts for Executive Board and Representative Council Meetings as well as taking official minutes and organizing attendance records.
  5. Updates and organizes membership information; tracks member dues and prepares member and non-member information reports.
  6. With input from the President and staff, updates and maintains the Issaquah Education Association Website and Facebook Pages.
  7. Issues payments and reimbursements to outside vendors, members and associated organizations.
  8. Maintains bookkeeping of financial records, including purchases, receipts and payments.
  9. Develop monthly financial statements including cash flow, and balance sheets.
  10. Prepares office payroll including monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax reports/filings with the appropriate state/federal agencies.
  11. Responsible for collecting audit documents in response/support of outside audits and Washington Education Association reports.

Prior Experience and Accomplishments:

  1. High School graduate required. College graduate a plus.
  2. Previous office experience – including customer service, accounting, invoicing, databases, secretarial duties, and clerical duties a plus
  3. Proven ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
  4. Ability to work early evenings twice a month for Executive Board and Representative Council Meetings.
  5. Experience in preparing professional documents with an ability to proofread.
  6. Experience in creating and maintaining an internet presence via a web page or social media.
  7. Experience in creating and disseminating an organization newsletter.
  8. Proficient with computer skills, including Quicken, Quickbooks, MS Outlook, Excel and Word.
  9. Understands public education and the teaching profession, its requirements, its community relationships and responsibilities. Experience working with unions a plus.
