Member Service Specialist

SEIU Healthcare Michigan is seeking a Member Service Specialist that is forward thinking, a natural leader and can hit the ground running. Duties

  • Manage union’s database of CBAs, monitor dates for reopeners and bargaining
  • Manage union’s grievance and arbitration caseload, including opening and managing case files, scheduling Grievance Review Committee meetings and member appeals
  • Manage and monitor union’s NLRB/MERC and litigation caseloads including deadlines
  • Answer member calls
  • Draft correspondence
  • Draft and assemble legal documents
  • Manage and monitor the union’s database of draft contract language
  • Engage in grievance settlement negotiations
  • Assist attorneys in preparation for litigation and bargaining
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience performing administrative and legal support functions, such as maintaining case files, documents, and correspondence and providing routine guidance and information to staff and members on cases.
  • Experience with a front-end enterprise database such as Unionware, Microsoft Access, or equivalent software.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Review and analyze a wide variety of evidentiary materials to support the Legal Department in the decision-making process
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • General technical proficiency and the ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Strong commitment to the American labor movement.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Ability to work long and extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel when needed for special events or trainings.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and organized, have great follow-through skills to ensure compliance with deadlines.
