Digital Organizer – Limited Duration – 9 Months

Purpose of This Position:
Responsible for developing and executing the strategic campaign-based digital organizing plan in coordination with the Field Coordinator and/or Director. Supporting campaigns of the union, including (but not limited to) the 2019 Contract and Legislative Campaigns

Specific Skills Required: To meet the demands of their role, must be competent in, or able to quickly learn, the following skills (please note that this list is not inclusive):

  • Strategic planning
  • Project management
  • Ability to navigate front-end and back-end uses of digital and web platforms, such as Facebook, Google, Snapchat, Instagram, etc. Run social media campaigns, including lead capture and target campaigns.
  • Proficiency on data technologies of the union, such as Form Assembly, Salesforce, Hustle, etc.
  • Training and technical support for staff and leaders/activists on digital organizing, digital tools, and data technologies.
  • Methods for developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), conversion, etc.
  • Building committees of workers to lead on digital strategies
  • Electronic communications, including Blue State Digital (blast email software) and any other “off-the-shelf” software that may be required to achieve determined goals in any given campaign.
  • Digital content creation as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

In addition to the duties normally associated with their role, all organizers fully participate in political and organizing actions as the Union requires. This includes (but is not limited to) membership home visiting, door-to-door canvassing, phone banks, issue campaigns, candidate campaigns, informing the membership on the issues and candidates, and get-out-the-vote drives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Actively and demonstrably committed to the purpose and vision of SEIU 503;
  • Experience in digital organizing, community or union organizing, other progressive non-profit organizations or other related experience;
  • Proficient in use of Salesforce and Hustle.
  • Ability to advise union leadership and field team on digital strategy to support field, issue and political campaigns;
  • Understands the goals and mission of SEIU;
  • Ability to implement goals with limited direction and balance conflicting demands;
  • Ability to self-assess areas of strength and weakness and take initiative to seek training and guidance when necessary;
  • Ability and stamina to work irregular and long hours as needed and to attend weekend and evening activities; &
  • Must be able to pass digital organizing skills test.

Pay and Benefits: Organizing positions provide comprehensive fully paid health, dental and vision benefits for employee and eligible dependents, domestic partner benefits, generous holiday and vacation policies, a monthly car and cell phone allowance, and a 15% employer-paid defined contribution 401K. Compensation range is based on experience, $49,500-$79,800 annually.
