Labor Relations Representative/Attorney

Seeking Labor Relations Representative or Labor Attorney
(Salary $8,300 – $9,400 monthly)

City Employees Associates L.L.C., based in Long Beach, California, is seeking an experienced Labor Relations Representative or Labor Attorney to serve as staff for small, independent public employees associations and their members. CEA currently represents more than 150 bargaining units throughout the state. Our client base includes city, county and special district employees' associations, organized under the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act and other related state laws.

Duties include the full range of CEA services in representing public employees and unions in labor and employment matters, including, but not limited to: serving as lead negotiator; processing grievances and disciplinary appeals; handling arbitrations, Personnel Commission, Civil Service Commission, or Public Employment Relations Board hearings; representation of individual members in investigatory meetings and ADA interactive process meetings; labor management meetings; meet and confers; and other consulting, advice and assistance as needed.

Knowledge and experience in certification and decertification of public employee unions, ability to assist clients with internal membership recruitment, and a desire and skill in writing articles on labor and employment topics that affect public sector workers is desirable.

Pay and benefits are competitive. Salary will be $8,300 – $9,400 monthly. CEA offers medical and dental coverage, provides a 3% match into the retirement plan, up to 160 hours of vacation per year, paid sick leave, 11 holidays, mileage reimbursement, and other benefits.

A bachelor's degree, excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to travel throughout southern California are minimum requirements. Negotiations experience, familiarity with the MMBA, and a juris-doctorate is preferred.
