Contributions Associate
AGMA Fund Office

The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) Retirement Plan and Health Fund Office seeks a Contributions Associate to join our team. The Fund Office works closely with AGMA, the Union that represents the classical artists in the fields of music, concert, recital, dance, oratorio and opera. The AGMA Health Fund provides comprehensive medical benefits for 500 members nationally and oversees a medical reimbursement account program for over 3,000 members. The AGMA Retirement Plan manages the employer-funded contributions of over 7,000 members.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Process Health Fund contributions from employers and members for medical, dental and vision benefits and for COBRA coverage
  • Prepare and monitor reports for pending new and terminated medical coverage
  • Process Retirement Plan contributions from employers and update members records
  • Review incoming contribution reports for accuracy and work with staff to resolve discrepancies with employer representatives
  • Verify batch totals against ledger entries
  • Prepare the accounting entries of the Retirement Plan including paying bills, creating journal entries and updating bank and investment reconciliations
  • Prepare demand letters to be sent to delinquent employers
  • Generate refund request report and consolidate supporting materials
  • Respond to information requests as needed for the annual audit and internal reporting
  • Prepare mailing lists, labels as needed

Required Skills, Abilities and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; at least 2 years of union or benefit fund office experience required; prior use of ISSI Benefit Systems is a plus
  • Strong bookkeeping, analysis and reporting skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook; a confident working knowledge of Excel; and strong personal computer skills are required
  • Ability to effectively communicate with members as customers
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work; discretion with handing sensitive information
