Legislative Administrative Assistant
Based in Albany, NY
The New York State AFL-CIO seeks a full-time Legislative Administrative Assistant for its Albany, New York headquarters to support the Legislative team. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher, a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an office setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong computer and communication skills are required. Professionalism and discretion are paramount.
Duties include:
- Provide administrative support to the Legislative team.
- Assist with Board of Elections and lobbying compliance reporting.
- Prepare letters, memos, correspondence, scans, compliance reporting documents, and other documents as needed.
- Communicate and correspond with the New York State Legislature, State agencies, other government entities and partner organizations.
- Support the legislative team with research, legislation tracking, issue monitoring, and other assignments as needed.
- Coordinate and schedule legislative meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
- Maintain files and perform photocopying, collating, and other clerical and administrative duties needed to support the office.
- Provide backup support for the receptionist as needed.
- Provide administrative support and coordination related to multi-day, bi-annual convention, and other special events.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Excellent work attendance, attention to detail, professional work habits, and demeanor are required.
- Occasional travel and overtime are required.
- This is a bargaining unit position, if selected, membership in a union is required.
The annual salary range is $67,600 – $70,000.

Work hours: work is performed in person, on weekdays during business hours with occasional overtime, occasional weekend work, and occasional remote work.
