Based in: Kansas City or St. Louis, Missouri
Job Type: Temporary, part-time, 25-35 hours per week. Tuesday through Saturday, with a full push through Election Day.  
Start date: September 22, 2026. 
End date: November 3, 2026. 

Purpose of Position: To knock 20,000 doors across Kansas City and St. Louis between September 26 and Election Day, and to have real conversations with working people about what is on the November ballot. This is a hard, countable goal for a short window, and every shift matters. Our standard is at least 15 doors per hour. No prior canvassing experience is required, and we provide training, turf, MiniVAN access, and support in the field.

Location: In person, in Kansas City or St. Louis. We are hiring 5 canvassers in each city.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Canvass the turf you are assigned and knock at a pace of at least 15 doors per hour.
• Have real conversations with voters about Amendment 3 and the redistricting referendum, Proposition A, and what they mean for working families.
• Record every door and every conversation in MiniVAN before you leave the turf.
• Attend the opening meeting before your shift and the debrief after it, and turn in your turf and your numbers.
• Tell your field lead immediately about anything that is blocking voters or blocking the work, including locked buildings, an unsafe situation, or someone interfering with canvassers.
• Work with your field lead on turf, pacing, and scripts so you keep hitting the daily goal. Ask for help early rather than late.
• Represent Missouri Workers Power with respect at every door, including with people who disagree with us.
• Bring what you learn back to the team, because what you hear at the doors shapes the campaign.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• No prior canvassing or organizing experience is required. We train you.
• A commitment to building a multi-racial movement of workers and communities.
• Comfort talking with people you have never met about politics, jobs, and what they need from their government.
• Able to be on your feet and walking for several hours at a time, in whatever weather Missouri sends.
• Dependable and on time. This program has a fixed end date and a fixed door goal, so missed shifts are missed doors.
• A smartphone that can run MiniVAN. A phone stipend is provided.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver's license, auto insurance, and a vehicle you can use every day for work.
• Strong reading and basic computer skills.
• Bilingual ability in any language is sought but not required. Spanish speakers are especially encouraged to apply.

Compensation

• $25 per hour.
• $75 monthly cell phone stipend.
• $150 monthly gas stipend.
• This is a temporary, part-time position, so it does not include the health insurance benefits package.
• Pay is administered by the Missouri Workers Center, with the program funded by Missouri Workers Power. Pay dates are the 15th and the last day of each month.
