Job Title: Bookkeeper LG IV 
Salary Range: $46,800 – $51,026

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Under general direction and supervision of the Education Fund Accounting Manager, with latitude for independent action and decision, performs work of difficulty and responsibility related to maintaining and balancing financial records; performs related work

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Maintains general and special books of accounts, including cashbooks, purchase books, financial registers, general ledgers and general journals; posting entries from books of original entry to general and subsidiary ledgers; making adjusting and closing entries; the preparation of trial balances, bank reconciliations, operating statements and schedules.
  • Maintaining records of contracts, appropriations allocations, authorizations and payments; verifies accuracy of invoices, claims, vouchers and payrolls by consulting supporting records and data; receives remittances, makes disbursements and issues appropriate receipts; sets up and maintains codes for funds and reserves; allocates costs and charges, classifies receipts and expenditures; prepares reports. 
  • Performs related clerical functions. Operates office machines, CRT and similar equipment. May be required to work alternate schedules. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of college bookkeeping courses and one-year bookkeeping or accounting experience, or in the alternative, two years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in the areas listed above
  • Must be able to maintain records and perform related Accounting or other clerical duties as required
  • Familiarity with payroll and timekeeping a plus
  • Extensive experience and familiarity with ADP, Great Plains and Microsoft Excel
  • Must be able to operate personal computer related software and related equipment
  • Previous experience in non-profit or government accounting preferred
  • Applicant must possess exceptional mathematical skills, be organized, multi-task oriented and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
