The Iowa State Education Association Council (ISEA) is seeking applicants for the position of full-time UniServ Director.
Service Area & Overview:
The eastern area is made up of the following: Bettendorf EA, Bettendorf ESA, Bettendorf SSA, Davenport EA, Eastern Iowa Community College HEA, PSO of Mississippi Bend AEA9 locals. The UniServ Director will work closely with the Statewide Organizer and Year-Round Organizers, other UniServ Directors and members, to advocate for students, the education profession and communities.
Job Duties:
Assist ISEA locals in matters of:
Organizing
- Lead membership growth and organizing campaigns.
- Support recertification elections and issue campaigns.
- Build relationships with local unions, school districts, and community stakeholders.
- Recruit and retain members.
- Support school board candidate interviews and promotions.
- Travel regularly to local affiliates to develop leaders and strengthen union structures.
Negotiations & Member Advocacy
- Support collective bargaining efforts.
- Train and coach worksite representatives.
- Provide advice, representation, and support to members and local leaders.
Leadership Development
- Recruit and develop local and council-level leaders.
- Design and deliver training.
- Build leadership capacity across affiliates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience with organizing, membership campaigns, collective bargaining, labor management relations, and community organizing.
- Strong listening and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of Iowa public-sector labor laws and labor relations.
- Experience with political action and adult training.
- Ability to travel extensively, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Compensation
- Salary range: $77,125 – $109,900, depending on experience.
- Benefits include health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement benefits, paid leave, auto allowance, and professional development funding.
