Summary: Working under the direction of CWA Local 9009 management, the position provides support and programmatic assistance to meet Alphabet Workers Union goals to grow membership and support tech workers. This position is responsible for senior level administrative work in support of various programs and overall organizational needs. This position is a confidential position providing confidential support to local management and the Executive Board.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
The Senior Administrative Coordinator is responsible to provide confidential administrative and operational support under the supervision of the Director of Operations.

Member Support

  • Provide administrative and technical assistance to stakeholders in the Union’s mission
  • Provide administrative support to committees and workgroups
  • Maintain regular and effective communication with members and workers
  • Assist with meeting preparation and facilitation
  • Serve as backup for other Operations staff during occasional absences to ensure continued member support

Technical Knowledge

  • Use, report and provide technology & data support to all stakeholders
  • Expertly use communications platforms to communicate with stakeholders
  • Expertly use HRIS and employee data management platforms

Leadership

  • Cultivate a cohesive culture by coaching and mentoring staff as related to Operations
  • Support procedural improvements in cooperation with stakeholders

Confidential and General Operations

  • Negotiate and sign vendor contracts on behalf of the organization with approval
  • Manage assigned external relationships with vendors and Union partners
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to Union leadership and management
  • Screen inquiries and respond to routine and moderately complex questions from members
  • Oversee and support organizational event planning
  • Communicate with and make recommendations to the leadership and management regarding the facilitation and effective execution of Union activities
  • Support the scheduling and facilitation of staff recruitment and hiring
  • Provide backup support for the Director of Operations in supporting the Executive Board 
  • Provide support to the AWU Budget Committee and assist with budget preparation
  • Use the HRIS and maintain confidential data
  • Take comprehensive notes for key meetings between AWU and external stakeholders 
  • Support growth of the organization with staff and members during campaign events 
  • Research and report information, as assigned, to support management during bargaining
  • Support management in the administration of the staff Union contract
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Special Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma with equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of administrative experience, preferably in a union
  • Proficiency and adaptability with various technology platforms
  • Impeccable writing and communication skills
  • Ability to assess and resolve challenges, make recommendations, and report issues to leadership and management to ensure a cohesive working environment
  • Commitment to setting a strong example of professionalism and integrity in operational practices, policy compliance, and organizational conduct
  • Demonstrated strong project-management skills

Driving Requirements:
A valid state driver's license and good driving record are preferred.

Salary and Benefits: The current salary range is $93,533 – $114,042, based on qualifications and experience. CWA Local 9009 offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package, including employer-paid family health coverage, retirement, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
