Temporary Project Organizers

Based in the Bay Area, Sacramento, or Southern California
(multiple positions available)

 

Position: Project Organizer (Limited Duration 12 Month Position)
Location: Bay Area, Sacramento, So Cal (multiple positions available)
Assignment will require considerable travel throughout the region and occasional travel around the state.
Salary Range: $74,298.84 – $94,826.34(depending on qualifications and experience), plus full employee fringe benefit package: health, dental and vision plans and retirement program.

This is a full-time project-based position to work on an external organizing campaign in higher education in California. External Project Organizers are responsible for a variety of campaign duties in their turf including building relationships, identifying leaders, assessing workers, and developing worker committees. 

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Willing to work long and irregular hours.
2. Dedicated to social and economic justice, and higher education access.
3. In possession of an insured vehicle and valid driver’s license.
4. At least 6 months of previous labor and/or community organizing. 
5. Experience in community, student, labor, or environmental activism is a plus.
6. Competent in basic computer/web functions and social media platforms as well as data management and calendaring systems.
7. The ability to work collaboratively with others, and motivate campaign staff, volunteers and members.
8. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and in a high-pressure environment while also taking direction and incorporating feedback from the campaign director. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct one-on- one site and house visits and attend meetings with employees
2. Chart workplaces and relationships and maintain accurate lists
3. Assess, move and test workers
4. Identify and develop leaders
5. Set up and oversee phone banks, Hustle campaigns, meetings and trainings and other volunteer organizing activities
6. Plan activities, events and actions based on campaign priorities
7. Attend regular meetings with the campaign director and other leaders to discuss progress and establish benchmarks and goals for assigned turf. 
8. Effectively communicate the campaign rap and strategic vision to workers and assist with written campaign communications

Employment requires membership in the Project Organizer Union, which is represented by the Field Representative Union.
