Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to maintain our regional financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IRS and Department of Labor regulations. The ideal candidate will manage daily transactions, reconciliations, and vendor payments, utilizing QuickBooks and Excel to maintain organized financial systems. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the union's financial operations and contributing to its overall organizational efficiency.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Record Transactions: Receive, categorize, and process all revenue and expenses in QuickBooks.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank and credit card statements, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Manage Accounts Payable: Verify and track expenses, vendor invoices, and payments, ensuring timely processing.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable: Track regional per capita payments and follow up on overdue payments from Locals.
  • Expense Reporting: Process the regional president's expense reports and review vouchers, ensuring compliance with regional financial practices.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate monthly/quarterly financial reports, such as P&L statements and balance sheets, as necessary.
  • Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain organized records for auditing and tax purposes (physical/digital), including processing LMs, W-9s, and Beck objectors in compliance with IRS and Department of Labor standards.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Software Proficiency: Proven experience with QuickBooks and MS Excel.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including debits/credits and double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
  • Time Management: Ability to meet regular, strict financial deadlines.
  • Proven Experience: 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience or similar role, preferably in a union or non-profit environment.

The salary for this position is $66,020.22 per year. Benefits include excellent health care, retirement benefits and more.
