Financial Analyst

Based in Madison, WI


Position Title: Financial Analyst (60%, 24 hours per week)
Location: Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) Office, Madison, WI
Reports to: WEAC Director of Finance & Operations

Job description: This position is responsible for performing accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, systems analysis, investment management and project management functions.

This is an ideal professional position for an experienced financial executive who is interested in scaling back a bit and working part-time. The 24 hours per week can be worked in 3 full-time days or a combination of full and part-time days. A hybrid of in-office and work-from-home is available.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting and 5 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and business systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management, design and analysis skills.
  • High degree of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
  • Ability to perform feasibility, cost benefit and systems studies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work assignments, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrate trustworthiness and confidentiality.
  • Perform all duties in a professional and competent manner.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers, financial software, databases and Internet applications.

Preferred qualifications:

  • CPA designation or master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • Database skills.


  • Perform monthly dues revenue reconciliations
  • Prepare financial projects and reports
  • Cash management reporting
  • Advise and provide support on investment strategies
  • Provide budgeting support
  • Give nonprofit tax and IRS advice and assist in preparation of annual Form 990s
  • Assist in the coordination of annual audits
  • Maintain and coordinate updates to financial institution authorized signers
  • Various accounting responsibilities including reviews of journal and payroll entries
  • Prepare post-employment benefit trust transactions

Salary and Fringe Benefits: The full-time salary range for this position is $84,000 to $115,500, based upon qualifications. Salary and benefits will be pro-rated at 60% for this position.
