  • Speak with musicians in 1-1 conversations for both internal and external organizing campaigns
  • Work individually and on a team to assess organizing targets
  • Complete strategic research as part of a comprehensive organizing campaign
  • Develop member leaders on advisory and organizing committees
  • Develop and implement strategic organizing plans
  • Assist musicians and union leadership in negotiating collective bargaining agreements
  • Lead and conduct demonstrations, pickets, marches, trainings, meetings, and other events and actions


  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google Docs
  • Ability to learn new database programs for data entry and report lookups
  • 5+ years of experience as a union and/or community organizer
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at a time
  • Must understand and be committed to union principles and values
  • Experience with collective bargaining, including conducting proposal and ratification meetings and votes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a musician and/or being a music enthusiast is helpful
  • Fluency/proficiency in Spanish is a plus
  • Background with/working knowledge of entertainment unions is a plus
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms

Must be willing to work irregular hours including some evenings and weekends as needed. This is a full-time bargaining unit position, the employment terms of which are covered under an agreement with Local 802’s in-house union for its professional staff, the Organization of Union Representatives (O.U.R.). Compensation will be commensurate with experience in line with the staff collective bargaining agreement. Current minimum starting salary is $61,091.16. Benefits include health insurance, defined benefit pension plan, 401(k) and paid time off.
