CSCRC – Central South Carpenters Regional Council

Central South Carpenters Regional Council

Local Political Affairs Director

Based in Austin, TX

Job Description: Construction workers in the mid-south suffer unacceptable working conditions, even in the most progressive cities. Unsafe working conditions and wage theft continue to be rampant, in spite of a number of efforts by sympathetic local politicians and leaders.

In Austin, the CSCRC is mounting a bottom-up grass roots operation among Dry Wall workers. It is similar to the successful Carpenters Union 1992 campaign in Los Angeles. The Austin campaign is called Si Se Puede ATX.

We are looking for a person to help coordinate and implement Local Political Affairs in Austin, Texas. This is an immediate opening. She or he will work with union Political and Organizing staff to design and execute local political strategy in concert with and in support of worker efforts.

Commitment to the union and its mission is required. Spanish speakers are especially encouraged to apply. The CSCRC is a union committed to diversity.

Compensation will be commensurate with pay and benefits for CSCRC local union agents.
