AFSCME Local 3299 is searching for candidates for the Internal Organizer positions who are goal oriented fighters, who build strong relationships, are good listeners and who are deeply committed to building power for working families.

About the Position:
Organizers are responsible for identifying, recruiting, developing and motivating worksite leaders to move their co-workers to action through worksite or contract campaigns to address worksite issues and improve workers lives.

As an organizer you will also:

  • Help workers plan out and execute department fights over issues important to them
  • Maintain updated department and turf lists
  • Represent workers in disciplinary/grievance cases who are being treated unjustly by their employer and train leaders to do so
  • Recruit members to become involved in our political program

What you bring to this role:

  • Minimum 6 months experience working for labor unions
  • A strong commitment to social, racial and economic justice
  • Thirst for making a difference through your work
  • The willingness to work long, irregular hours when needed to reach your goals
  • The ability to receive constructive feedback
  • The desire to learn
  • The ability to work well with others or individually
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Preferably bilingual Spanish/Cantonese
  • Valid DL and vehicle
