IT Support Assistant

Based in New York City, NY

The Hotel Trades Council (HTC), AFL-CIO, is the union of hotel and gaming workers in New York and Northern New Jersey. For 80 years, HTC has been at the forefront of the fight for social justice, including racial, economic and gender equality. Today, in a time of political uncertainty, massive income inequality and injustice, we continue to fight to better the lives of hotel and gaming workers.

HTC is currently seeking applications for an IT Support Assistant.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Support help-desk workflow and maintain responsive communication with users;
  • Troubleshoot workstations and printers, install software, and assist users;
  • Assist with regular maintenance tasks on servers and workstations (Mac/Windows/Linux);
  • Updating and maintaining documentation, both physical & digital, including: asset inventory, software licenses, vendor information, warranties, configurations, and serial numbers;
  • Configure and deploy user computers & phones.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional help-desk experience;
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and to work efficiently yet accurately;
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours when necessary;
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • Ability to learn quickly and grow into positions of greater responsibility;
  • Persistence and determination;
  • Resourcefulness and talent for problem-solving;
  • Good judgement.

Additional consideration given for:

  • Commitment to social justice;
  • Multilingual (especially Spanish or Chinese);
  • Experience using FileMaker Pro 6-17;
  • Knowledge of Windows 7 and 10 desktop support.

Salary & Benefits:
Starting salary will be $55,000- $65,000, depending on experience and includes an excellent benefits and retirement package (including employer-paid medical, dental, optical, pre-paid legal, Flexible Spending Accounts, Life Cycle Benefits, and the like).
