Membership & Communications Manager

The International Labor Communications Association, founded in 1955, is the professional organization of labor communicators in North America. ILCA’s several hundred members produce publications with a total circulation in the tens of millions. We are hiring a Membership and Communications Manager to help drive member engagement and communications to our diverse membership of labor union communicators. Skills and Experience
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of work experience. Work experience in communications, membership development, social media, website content development, and/or writing is strongly preferred. Candidate must be a good writer, proficient with web editing software or ready to learn, detail-oriented, willing to learn new tasks and committed to the labor movement and/or social justice.

Starting salary in the mid-60s range and competitive benefits package. The position is based in Washington, DC.

Job Purpose
The Communications & Membership Coordinator is responsible for managing member outreach and day-to-day operations of the ILCA under the strategic direction of the ILCA Executive Council.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Primary duties and responsibilities include the following:

Communications and Membership Development

  • Maintain program to retain existing ILCA member organizations and significantly grow the membership
  • Prepare and send membership mailings and materials
  • Plan ILCA events such as the annual awards luncheon, convention, and other events; including managing logistics.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Council to meet membership goals; including providing talking points and lists to the council
  • Maintain a membership database and track changes
  • Maintain the ILCA website and social media profiles
  • . Produce the ILCA weekly email newsletter known as the “Insider”

Operations, Planning and Management

  • Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization
  • Handle mail, pay bills, process and track dues and manage funds received
