Working America, the community affiliate of the AFL-CIO, is the fastest-growing organization for working people in the country. We’re on the front lines of the fight for economic equality, engaging our 3 million members to take action for the issues that matter most to working families. This year alone, we have mobilized hundreds of thousands of members to take action for health care reform, green jobs, solving the unemployment crisis, fighting corporate corruption and immigration reform.

We are seeking a citywide Member Coordinator for our Cleveland office, to identify and develop member activists, mobilize members on key issues and assist the Regional Director in planning and executing earned media events, conducting outreach to organizational allies, and identifying potential state and local campaigns. As Member Coordinator, you will collaborate with top national staff and progressive activists to develop new ways of mobilizing our members, engaging working people on economic issues and broadening public knowledge of our critical fight for working families.

  • Passion for economic justice and willingness to work sometimes long and irregular hours to get the job done
  • Ability to work well as part of team, as well as independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Comfort representing Working America to a variety of allies and audiences
  • High organizational skills, ability to manage multiple deadlines, maintain good records and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal skills, comfort with public speaking
  • Ability to travel periodically
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
