SUMMARY:
SEIU Healthcare 775NW is the long-term care workers union, representing more than 38,000 home care and nursing home workers across Washington and Montana. DESCRIPTION:
The goal of the Member Resource Center is to provide consistent, reliable member services through a small call center environment with fluctuating call volumes. Representatives answer incoming calls and email, handling questions about membership/dues, health care and other benefits, collective bargaining agreements, problems at work, union activities. The Representatives also provide information and assistance including advocacy, contract enforcement, more. Representatives work closely with union officers, staff, and leaders to communicate about union programs and current issues.
HOURS:
The Member Resource Center service hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. PST, and staff currently work 40 hours a week. In the future, there may be additional shifts, with possible weekend hours, and with anticipated extended hours. Occasional weekend work required of all Representatives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants for the current opening must be bilingual in English and Russian. Written and spoken fluency is required. The Member Resource Representative must be a good communicator, with excellent customer service/relationship skills and the ability to relate to limited-English speakers. Representatives should be able to demonstrate, basic computer literacy; basic database use; ability to accurately record notes of conversations in a web-based program; and ability to learn basics of the long term care industry, services provided by the union, and general knowledge of union representation.
PREFERRED:
Political judgment, accountability/performance standards and attention to detail are required. Previous customer service experience in a call center, help desk, or informational/referral center or as a union steward is preferred. Experience with one of the following types of organizations is a plus: long term care, social services, labor unions, community organizations, civic engagement, voter registration programs or constituent services for elected officials. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Hourly, Overtime Eligible
- Pay ranges from $14.80 to $18.60 per hour (depending on experience).
