ORGANIZERS

The Texas State Employees Union (TSEU) is currently hiring organizers to work in our offices around the state. We are organizing state employees across Texas to win fair pay, respect on the job, and adequate resources for state services to those who need them. We currently have nearly 11,000 members.

Organizers are responsible for working with our current membership to help develop on-the-job activists who can reach out to their non-union co-workers and convince them to join the union. This entails regularly setting up meetings at state offices to talk to members and prospective members, meeting with members both on and off the work-site, and helping track our progress in gaining members. There is also a good amount of travel to various state offices and campuses, so having a vehicle in working condition is required

Organizer requirements include willingness to learn, flexibility, enthusiasm, being independently motivated, commitment to/ interest in labor movement, ability to work and communicate with diverse peoples and a belief in working for justice. Women and people of color encouraged to apply. Spanish fluency a plus. The full-time organizer position pays $30k-$35k per year, plus full health benefits, $100 per month car allowance, mileage and expense reimbursement, and cell phone.
