LABOR RELATIONS REPRESENTATIVE

Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) is the largest healthcare union in the State of Oregon representing over 12,000 registered nurses.  ONA is a progressive growth-oriented union and professional association that has been the voice of nursing in Oregon since 1904. ONA is seeking to hire a Labor Relations Representative to bargain acute care hospital contracts and administer registered nurse bargaining units in Northeastern Oregon. Labor Relations Representative

Full-time position based in Northeastern Oregon available, to be filled in November (current assignment along I-84 from The Dalles to Ontario; home office to be based in Hermiston/Pendleton/LaGrande/Baker City).

Candidate must have a passion for workplace advocacy; commitment to employee empowerment and quality patient care.

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a labor representative/business agent and/or a combination of equivalent experience.
  • Independent ability to negotiate and administer private and public sector acute care hospital contracts. 
  • Ability to assist in continued development and implementation of a collective bargaining program for registered nurses.
  • Skilled in leadership and steward development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled at grievance processing and occasional hearing/arbitration presentation.
  • Willingness to work long and flexible hours with extensive travel (limited overnights).
  • BA or BS degree required, with an RN license preferred.
  • Familiarity with the healthcare industry, specifically, with registered nurse working conditions in an acute care settings.
