Position Summary: Position supports efforts with respect to organizing, collective bargaining, corporate affairs, and other related matters of vital concern to the promotion of the IBEW and its membership. Tasks are researchoriented and entail collecting, analyzing, and reporting information/data for higher-level review and dissemination.

Qualifications and Experience Necessary: Candidates must have a B.A. or B.S. degree, at least one year of corporate research experience working on union strategic campaigns, and experience doing field-based strategic research. This position requires knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and the terminology of industrial relations, as well as extensive knowledge of personal computer usage, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, other informational systems, and the Internet.

Candidates must have knowledge of economics, relevant labor law, and corporate finance and governance; knowledge of Securities and Exchange Commission documents and financial statements; familiarity with relevant securities laws and regulatory and public policy issues; and strong writing skills.

Qualified candidates should be able to:

  1. Conduct comprehensive research on labor, economic, corporate and industry topics; analyze financial statements, economic statistics, and wage and employment data; create and maintain databases and spreadsheet files; and produce charts and tables.
  2. Write reports on the economy, industry trends, corporate finances, trade issues, and other labor-related topics.
  3. Assign work to support staff and assist in the training and supervision of support staff.
  4. Devise employee intervention strategies in corporate restructurings.
