SERVICE CENTER/ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

SEIU United Service Workers West is now hiring a Service Center Representative/Administrative Assistant. Position is located in San Francisco. Position is either part-time or full-time minimum 16 hours.
SEIU United Service Workers West is a California state-wide union on the cutting edge of progressive activism, building the power of low-wage workers and engaging in larger social issues such as immigration, health care, and housing. United Service Workers West represents over 35,000 janitors, airport workers, security officers, and other service workers in some of the states most vital industries, such as the commercial real estate, hi-tech, aviation, retail, and entertainment industries. The union is home to the Justice for Janitors, Stand for Security and Airport Workers United campaigns that have successfully improved the lives of thousands of low wage and immigrant workers throughout the country.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan own work and make weekly and monthly plans
- Issue identification, investigation and resolution of administrative issues such as; pay, holiday, vacation, seniority, sick leave, and other leave of absence issues;
- File and process grievances on the above issues;
- Interpret and enforce multiple collective bargaining agreements;
- Coordinate large caseload: investigation and resolution;
- Negotiate resolution of issues with Employer;
- Coordinate Referral program (where it exists);
- Communication, both orally and in writing with employers and management Representatives;
- Effectively handle a large volume of callers and visitors courteously, understanding their inquiries, and assist them in referring them to the appropriate recourse for needed help.
- Manage and maintain database and office filing system as required on a daily basis.
- Work with Service Center lost timers (if applicable) on identifying and preparing administrative issue grievances.
Additional Qualifications
- Position requires applicant to be Bilingual (English/Spanish)
