ASSISTANT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – NEGOTIATIONS & ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Position: Assistant Executive Director – Negotiations & Organizational Development

Location: Burlingame (1705 Murchison Drive, Burlingame, CA 94010)

Salary Range: Management Salary Structure

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate, supervise, direct and otherwise manage the property, personnel and programs of CTA within the Negotiations and Organization Development Department under the direction of the Executive Director or her designee.  Specifically, the duties shall include, but not be limited to:

  • Development and coordination of the Association’s negotiations and training programs.
  • Determination of CTA training needs and the overall direction and coordination of the CTA training program for staff and members.
  • Supervision and coordination of the development of CTA training conferences within the scope of the NOD Department, including the Urban Issues Conference, the Rural Issues Conference, the Summer Institute and the President’s Conference.
  • Supervision and coordination of the development of CTA statewide training conferences designed to deal with developing issues of importance to the Association.
  • Supervision of the preparation of records and reports on negotiations and training.
  • Supervision of the CTA staff training programs on effective negotiations, training techniques and other related topics.
  • Development and supervision of the CTA Staff Intern Program.
  • Direction and supervision of all personnel and programs assigned to the Department.
  • Directing the analysis and distribution of recommendations concerning significant changes in the law affecting teachers, other education employees and school districts working closely with CTA legal and legislative staff.
  • Consultant to CTA Governance at the direction of the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • A BA or BS Degree.  Advanced Degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience with professional teacher organizations, their internal structures and mechanisms, and their programs and services at the state and local level.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with negotiations including various forms of alternate bargaining issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with issues related to California public schools.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with training members and staff.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with information technologies related to training and the dissemination of critical information.
  • Ability to plan long and short-range organizational projects resulting in effective implementation.
  • Ability to plan and implement complex training programs.
  • Ability to construct budget proposals and to effectively manage a budget.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with and monitor outside consultants and vendors.
  • Demonstrated skill at using CTA computer applications and ability to analyze their use in CTA’s program.
