Coordinator / Lead Organizer
Fast Food Workers Campaign

Philadelphia, PA

Job Title: Coordinator/Lead Organizer
Position Reports to: Regional Director
Position Location(s): Philadelphia, PA
Start Date: Varies, Applications accepted on a rolling basis

The Pennsylvania Workers Organizing Committee - Fight for 15 PA was founded by Fast Food workers in Pittsburgh in the winter of 2013 and spread to Philadelphia in the beginning of 2014. After realizing we were facing similar issues across PA, we decided that we needed to unite for better wages, working conditions, and respect on the job. The “Fight for 15” campaign is a national coordinated campaign that demands a $15 living wage and the right to form a union without retaliation. Inspired by the courage and action of the fast food workers, other low wage workers have also joined the national Fight for 15 to demand a living wage and the right to form a union.

Since our founding hundreds of workers have come together, shared our stories with the press, and gone on strike. The editorial boards of the New York Times, the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the Baltimore Sun, the Boston Globe, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette have all backed our campaign. We have won concrete victories in our work sites like raises, promotions, increased hours, and changes in store policies. 340 cities and 40+ countries joined us during the last worldwide strikes and protests. Everyday more of our coworkers are joining with us to fight for a living wage.
